First of all, when coming to Venice by train, make sure that your train is going to Venezia Santa Lucia
Station and not Venezia Mestre Station. Venezia Mestre Station is on the continent - so if your train is going there, you would have to transfer to another train at Venezia Mestre Station in order to reach Venezia Santa Lucia Station.
You can find schedules on either Tren Italia (Italian train company) or Bahn's website (DB Bahn is the German train company but their website provides comprehensive trains schedules throughout Europe)
From Venezia Santa Lucia Station, walk accross the Santiago Calatrava Bridge in order to reach Piazzale Roma. Most
cruise lines (including Costa and NCL) provide free shuttles from Piazzale Roma to their cruise ship (or you can cross the bridge into the cruise port).Taking the free shuttle to your cruise ship is recommended. It is nevertheless possible to walk from Piazzale Roma to the cruise port.
If you decide to walk, you may find Mediterranean Cruise Ports
Easy's page to be useful as it provides detailed directions as well as photos along the way, please note however that their
directions are reverse (from the cruise port to Venezia Santa Lucia Station).
The People Mover train, which opened in April, 2010, offers quick (and wheelchair-accessible) connections between Piazzale Roma, the Marittima cruise terminal, where passenger ships arrive and depart. (Caveat: The Marittima station is located just outside the Marittima port entrance, which means that passengers need to walk to or from their ships.) and the Tronchetto parking island, which has indoor and outdoor parking for thousands of cars and is also the arrival point for most tour buses.

Luggage storage in Venice:
The cruise terminal has a luggage storage
office. As of last notice, the opening hours were from 9am to
noon and from 3pm to 5pm, but hours vary by season or day.
If you want to store your luggage in the city before going to the
cruise terminal, you may find luggage storage at Piazzale Roma in
front of the ACTV ticket office (next to the Pullman Bar).
Otherwise, look for the deposito bagagli office in
the arrivals hall of the Marco Polo airport or Santa Lucia
railway station.
Alternatively, you can get your luggage
delivered to your cruise ship. The Cooperativa Portabagagli
di Venezia offers a luggage transfer service from the S.
Lucia station to cruise ships, at a cost of Euro 5.00 per
luggage. If you wish to use this service, contact them
directly inside the train station. In order to ensure that your
luggage is correctly delivered to your cabin, please make sure
that all luggage items are correctly labelled with the labels
provided by your cruise line (included with your cruise ticket).
If you do not have these labels with you, we strongly recommend
that you do not use this service.
